Appointment Expectations
To make the most of your virtual and in-person appointment, review the information below.
- Bring resume/cover letter materials to your appointment
- Bring your Resume /or Cover Letter and/or Submit your Resume /or Cover Letter on the appointment page before the appointment.
- Know your email account name and password to use while completing job applications
- Clearly defined goals and expectations to guide the session
- Bring any questions or relevant information that you wish to share with the Career Services team member during the appointment
- Prospective companies or industries that you may want to apply to (optional)
- Arrive at least 5 -10 minutes before your appointment time; and if meeting by Google Meet or Phone be sure you have the login information ready. Note: You will not be seen until your appointment time
Rescheduling & Cancellation Policy
Coaching and Resume & Cover Letter Support are sought-after services; therefore in the event that you are unable to keep your appointment*, immediately cancel as soon as possible, at least within 48 hours by using one of the following methods:
- Use the cancellation link available in the appointment confirmation email
- Call Career Services at 212-592-7006 to leave a message or email careerservices@nypl.org. Please include your name, appointment date/time, and any additional information you may have. A Career Services team member will contact you as soon as possible. It may take up to 24 - 48 hours to assist with canceling or rescheduling your appointment depending on the time of day your call is received.
We request that all appointments be honored as scheduled. DO NOT proceed to schedule an appointment if you knowingly cannot keep the meeting time or date.
Failure to Notify Career Services re Cancellation & No Show (Missed Appointment)
- Failure to notify Career Services regarding a change or cancellation of your appointment within 24 hours may result in the ineligibility of making future appointments.
- Excessive CANCELLATIONS/NO SHOWS for all in-person or virtual appointments may result in the ineligibility of this service.
Late Arrivals Policy
If you are running late to an In Person or Virtual appointment, a coach or staff member will wait 15 minutes for the patron to arrive. If a patron does not show up within the 15-minute grace period, their appointment will be marked as a No Show appointment.
No Shows Policy
Patrons who do not call to cancel and rebook an appointment are considered No Shows, and if a patron does not show up within the 15-minute grace period, their appointment will be marked as a No Show appointment.
After 3 consecutive No Shows, patrons will have to wait 3 (three months) before they can scheduling another appointment. It is beat to contact Career Services via email at careerservices@nypl.org or by phone at 212-592-7006 if you know that you will not be able to keep your appointment.
Zoom Webinar Policy
Virtual Appointments & Webinars will be held using Zoom.The link to access the Zoom webinar will be sent to you via a confirmation email after you register.
